One of the largest universities of Great Britain is situated in Glasgow.
Glasgow University was founded in the 15th century. The building is of Gothic style. The tower of the University is very high, and it can be seen from many miles away.


The municipal Mitchell Library, the largest library in Scotland, has many rare works, including an important collection of the works of the poet Robert Burns.



The city also has an excellent art gallery and museum.

 



Glasgow has few historic buildings, but the Cathedral of St. Mungo is a fine example of Scottish medieval architecture.



Not far from Glasgow in Alloway there is a small cottage. Many tourists come there to see the place where the famous scottish national poet - Robert Burns - was born and lived.
